Ala Mhigans aren't even meant to be black/brown. Ala Mhigo is the setting's equivalent of the Near East, so the Ala Mhigans are more like Turks/Ottomans than anything else (though it's also from before they started making nations more like 1-to-1 analogues of real life cultures). Which means they're swarthy Caucasoids, some of which tan darkly but some of which are blonde-haired and blue-eyed.
