If managing fiat currencies requires a certain level of competence from institutions and being transparent & non-corrupt, why don't thirdies just adopt a similar system as the gold standard to mitigate similar issues? Serious question, fiat currencies depend almost entirely on the reputation of the ones responsible for regulations and thirdies are notoriously bad at doing that. The US did it during a pivotal moment and it worked out for them, why don't thirdies do the same?
