Yeah and the one they use in-game is an actual model - the M203. It launches 40mm grenades that can be loaded with (typically) HE or Smoke and very rarely giant buckshot rounds or sabots. Basically every modern assault rifle has some variant of the underbarrel grenade launcher since they're so damn useful.
