Rouge is the only non-hefty character who's supposed to be able to match Knuckles, punch-for-kick. You can almost write Knuckles out of the series in favor of her if he's too tethered to the Master Emerald, except Knuckles' character design appeals more to kids and Rouge makes parents want to stop buying Sonic.
