Honestly, I think it depends on who you are and who you get. I think the go to therapy, take da pills crowd is incredibly obnoxious. But in my case it has been the only thing that has helped. My therapist gave me really practical, workable advice. Medication also while not mandatory for me, has helped make my day to day much better.
Before doing that stuff, I started running 5ks, got a better job, more social hobbies. Still felt like shit all the time. I do think for most people working on fitness/fiance/social stuff Is going to fix 90% of people's mental problems though. Telling people go to therapy and take a Lexapro is like not going to fix anything if without atleast trying to fix those issues in some capacity.
