So. The conversation in it on itself didnt particularly help your case, I am.sorry to say. Not your fault, entirely on her own predisposition at the moment. I think she has something bothering her and she is not exactly on a sentimental mood, not trying to make you feel better by this, its just how it reads. Digging deeper on where your relationship stands at the moment, she likes you in a very innocent way, though by this is dont mean that you don't evoke romantic feelings more so that its not one strong pull to any direction other than genuinely liking you as a person. Her opinion however is more muddy and I think this stems from the conversation, they might see you as hurt and think that you might be taking this somewhat erratically. They didnt want to make you feel this way so their interest is torn between emotional comfort and distance, rhough to be fair probably leaning on the former as they do seem to be curious about what will happen.

So in short, I'd say it didnt bring you closer, but it wasn't your last chance neither. It did affect the chemistry into some level of petty and regret, but also made them realize how unique you are to them.
