Without the church, there is no Jesus Christ and without the church there is no Bible. I’m not sure where the confusion is here. Being a religious individual is, by definition, open admission to the blind belief in perceived authority figures. Just bc a book contains wisdom doesn’t mean it’s true. Lord of the Rings contains a lot of wisdom, hell even Harry Potter could be argued to contain wisdom; that doesn’t make them True.

Saying:

Just bc a fictional story has a heroic protagonist that you agree with, that doesn’t lend any credence to the historical accuracy or metaphysical existence of that character. You can agree with some of Jesus’s teachings without blindly believing in his existence.
