This is their on-campus stadium they abandoned. The cost to bring it up to P4 levels turned out to be too high so they looked for alternative, first a shared facility with the Patriots (who ended up not moving to Connecticut), and then their current home in Pratt & Whitney stadium. If they get membership in a P4 conference, they could revisit the finances for having on on-campus stadium again.
