The ultimate is only enabled by attacks, not by erosion stacks.
Erosion stacks amp the damage, which can technically be achieved by aerover doing the same thing since aerover also increases max stacks, but only applys erosion when there's some other debuff on the target, replacing that debuff with erosion.
