Maro is a company man at the end of the day and will march in lockstep with wotc. If wotc doesn't want to implement the no guns in-universe rule anymore Maro's opinion doesn't matter, he will be made to support whatever internal decision they put forward whether he likes it or not. If you put any stock in the personal opinion of a public company figurehead like him you need your head examined. Maro's real thoughts on the game will only emerge after he's retired.
