id go for retinol first and see how that works for you. i might rec retinoids too often in these threads but it is essential and fundamental ingredient of any skincare routine (if you can use and you tolerate it).
if you are still interested in benzoyl peroxide consider going to derm for epiduo. or start retinol, give it a few weeks, see how it goes and maybe then add BP in the morning. but yeah id take retinoids first over any active there is out there

well if its caused by fungus there are a few actives that are worth trying to fight it off. that would be ketoconazole (nizoral for example), selenium sulfide, piroctone olamine or ciclopirox olamine.
i went through these for my hair. the last one worked best. derm told me to keep using it. i also learned that i shouldnt use shampoo too often, every day is too much. and that they shouldnt be too harsh.
