Design inertia likely would take time to overcome. Everything about station design and construction was streamlined for rotating cylinders. Even if they didn't rotate any more, the design would be similar for a while until engineers and architects became accustomed to possibilities permitted by artificial gravity.
Many of the first steel bridges were built like wood bridges, only stronger and less likely to rot. It took time for bridge designers to make use of the attributes of steel to come up with new designs. More recently, the switch to LEDs in vehicle headlights initially gave us designs very similar to halogen bulbs but now are diverting away from those old design patterns.
