For you, I'd recommend the Super Star remake, Return to Dream Land, or maybe Triple Deluxe. Canvas Curse also came out around the same time as the games you've played, so maybe try that out. Or just pick something that looks interesting.

Rainbow Curse is a good game, but its gameplay is definitely more barebones than Canvas Curse, and a lot of people don't like it as much for that reason. The claymation looks really good, though.

About Super Kirby Clash, it's actually really easy to avoid paying, since both the single and multiplayer quests give EXP, and you can do the multiplayer quests on your own.
The games only allow you to spend $30 (Team) and $50 (Super) anyway. I didn't spend nearly that much on Team, and I didn't spend anything on Super.
