>How was your impression of IDW when it first started?
I only really got into it during the last storytime, and I actually really liked it at the start, which is part of why I have such a burning hatred for it now. If it was bad from the jump, I could've bailed early on without wasting so much time. But it was really fun for the first 50 issues, even if it was flawed on a fundamental level. After the point the flaws start catching up and it slowly becomes unreadable. But then every once in a while they throw out a genuinely good comic, so you have just enough hope to cling onto that the comic might go back to getting good again, while on the whole it NEVER does.
It's like being trapped in an abusive relationship in comic form. I quit after Armageddon Game and never looked back. I found the 80s Turtles comics and they're so much better, it's like night and day. They promise nothing but a casual fun time like the early mainline IDW issues, and I'll gladly take that.
