NTA, but a character is only as interesting as what they have to say, be it about the world, religion, what's happening, etc etc.

Maru doesn't say jack shit. All of the other girls have at least something interesting going on (Emily is the weird stoner-type girl who will ramble to you about esoteric shit until 3 AM, her bitchy sister has a genuinely sweet side underneath the bite, and Penny's fucked-up home situation makes you wonder if giving her a proper home is something you want to do because you want to put a baby inside her, or because you just want to get her out of that shitty trailer), but Maru's just... there. I can't remember anything about her besides her liking science, and while I hated her emo faggot brother initially, I ended up warming up to him after some time, as he's a really sweet/interesting character once you get to know him. Maru doesn't have that. There's nothing interesting to dig deeper for.
