Despite how hard the Rebuild movie timeline shit the bed with 3.0, I liked the ending of 2.0 with the idea of Shinji almost causing another apocalypse just to save Rei.
Her holding his radio was really touching as well.
Would have been nice to have seen that develop further rather than the abortion 3.0 was, but alas.
