Hoping this is bait, but how can people still be spouting this nonsense? Many drug companies use vegetables to discover new drugs precisely because they *do* have nutrients which benefit us and don't exist in meat.
Fairly recently we've found out that broccoli has anti-diabetic effects, up to and including reducing the severity of fatty liver disease. And I'm not talking about an artificially-concentrated extract, no, just eating plain old broccoli. The catch is you can't stir fry it or roast it; it has to be raw or steamed/boiled.
Not to mention how well beets reduce blood pressure - although you really do need to eat more than just a few slices in your salad to get that effect.

I would hate cutting so much more without vegetables, fresh salads especially. I can eat a piece of chicken and next to no rice but still content with my little rocket, tomato and cucumber salad.
