Avoid obsessing over monetization, prioritize subscription models over microtransactions, and work hard to build a committed niche over mass appeal. Media production in general is taking a nosedive due to mass enshittification for the sake of broader appeal. Games that prioritize player identity, earning content rather than purchasing it, and replayability will always be better for the industry in the long run. Corpos and shareholders have pump and dumped the fuck out of video games and they're about to face the consequences.
