This is very fitting for Jancso. His work is also ripe with excellent choreography and staging, and preoccupied with the themes of oppression and abuse of power. In his films there are socialist motiffs too but they're lowkey anti-Soviet... like how he shows the repression of the 1848 revolution... it's almost an allegory for the 1956 revolution.. ya dig? Also some anti-war films in his repertoire, The Red and the White is a genuine masterpiece. You mentioned Greek myths, now this is a surprising coincidence, he directed an adaptation of Electra with only 12 shots.
