Buying my own copy of Vice City for the PS2 made me realize that GTA has always been pretty shit outside the ability to free roam and push prostitutes into oncoming traffic or whatever. All the drugs and violence were fun as a kid but the novelty wears off when you see fent heads and other ghetto trash every day, deal with the consequences of living around them, and actually carry and shoot a real gun regularly. Also the basic gameplay is kinda janky and not fun and the writing is very meh.
