No you don't get it, it's the fact that IT CAN be replicated that really cranks up the existential dread because most of us currently think we're special beings, that something we don't understand separates us from electrons flowing in and out of semi-conductors and logic gates. Also it WILL be like going to sleep and waking up but ONLY if the original copy commits suicide, thus the mass suicides and exploding heads and all that jazz in the game. That's practically speaking the only way to ensure the continuity happens.

But yeah if a human say chickens out at the last minute and does not blow his brains out before the brain scan comes online in a robot body then you're gonna have a lot of problems there. No continuity occurs and now you both want to kill each other out of primal fear that something alien is mimicking you.
