Originally Satan was the “Morning Star” of God because he was the most brilliant creation God had made. According to Ezek. 28:12 he was the model of perfection. But because of his pride he rebelled against God. He had free willed choice to do that as we have choice today. Two important sections of Scripture that refer to the Devil are Isa. 14:12–17 and Ezek. 28:11–19. Further evidence that the Devil was the top of all of God’s creation before he fell is that Jesus Christ has now been exalted above God’s creation, taking the Devil’s place, and instead of being the morning star, he is the Bright and Morning Star (Rev. 22:16).
