No, but if all the rumors were true and the project has been in Square's back pocket for more than a few years, the 25th anniversary would have been a perfect opportunity to at least tease something. Since they didn't, we're left with two possibilities:
1.) The remake is in limbo and/or suffering from serious production difficulties.
2.) The remake is cancelled, or never even existed.
Granted, either of those things might have always been true, but now that the perfect opportunity to market it has come and gone, they are both exponentially more probable.
