I miss the days when translators actually had explanations of what the slang in Japan meant to Japanese people. Sayounara zetsubou sensei had so many tongue in cheek Kanji and other esoteric jokes in it that it's virtually untranslatable simply to the point where they actually had translations going through what was going on with the pun.

That was way better than cheesy nonsensical localisations that make up shit. It taught me shit about japanese language, japanese humour, japanese culture that a localisation just will never do.
For me, that was part of the fun with anime translations back in the day of fansubs. They loved explaining that shit. I loved learning about that shit.

Nowadays, that shit is fucking gone and people simply just don't understand how Japanese people are again. For a while there it seemed like we were finally getting to know each other.
Bad localisations put me into despair!
