Welcome to the fifth /mlp/ Game Jam!
Our theme this time round is... Pony Hobbies!
Now, what does that mean? That's for you to decide! Try to rationalize what ponies do in their free time, what do they occupy themselves with whenever they're not on the clock? My recommendation is either to think of your favorite pony and make a game around one of their hobbies, or think about a game genre and see what hobby it could represent and applying it to the corresponding pony.
NO SKILL LEVEL REQUIRED! ALL SUBMISSIONS WELCOME!
This time, we'll do things a little bit differently:
>Devs will have a little more time to submit their games
>Late submissions are still accepted! But not guaranteed to be showcased on stream, on time submissions will take priority. (They will, however, be mentioned on stream. As well as added to the game jam page)
>Each game will be showcased an average of ten minutes. This depends on the game however, if the entirety of the game takes place on a single screen and can be fully completed in thirty seconds, its time may be shorter than 10 minutes.
Also, I recognize I was too drunk last time, I need a somewhat clear head for this. So, I'll cut back
If you're thinking of participating, please sign up! I'm aware that not everyone that signs up is able to submit a game, and that's okay! But I need an idea of what I'll be working with for the panel, and for that I'll need a heads-up in the number of potential games in the jam!
Now, here's an extra recommendation:
DON'T LEAVE EVERYTHING FOR THE LAST MINUTE
PLEASE DON'T JUST SPEND THE LAST THREE DAYS WORKING ON YOUR GAME 24/7
PACE YOURSELF AND DO A LITTLE EVERY DAY
FAQ:
>If I do [x] will I be disqualified?
There'll be no disqualifications, all games uploaded to the Jam will be showcased. There's only one rule: It has to be pony
>Do I have to make all my assets from scratch?
No, you can use free and pre-made assets
>I don't know how to make games, this'll be my first time coding something in my entire life, can I still participate?
Of course! In my opinion, game jams are a great way to get started into gamedev; You get a set deadline, a prompt to start and ponies!
>What game engine can I use?
You can use any engine! A year ago someone made a game with the cmd window and I still think about it
>When is the showcase happening?
As of now, Sunday 4:00 PM CST on /mlp/con. It'll last for three hours
>Can I work with others to make my game?
Yes! Feel free to either work with a team or make your game solo.
>Fuck you. I'm making a game but I'm not following the theme
If you're stumped on what to create, you can always ask for inspiration in the thread!
