I think this genre generally is one of those things that's more fun to think about than actually partake in. Like where's the actual fun when you actually finally launch one of these games? The combat? There are games with better tactical combat. The writing/ story? Books and VNs are better. Roleplay? Other RPGs and tabletop are better.
