The signature melee weapon of my "elves" are rapiers that are essentially made out a thin thread of animated fibers that cut trough stuff by both flattening the edge of the blade into an edge that is just few fibers thin, as well as by hardening and heating themselves up. Because the fibers can change their positioning and also their lenght (as they spool out of the handle of the weapon) these blades can also change shape and even extend a bit, being able to work like a whip, bend and wrap the defences of a foe and even unfurl and shred trough soft tissues etc once they manage to penetrate a target.

The fibers these swords use are also drawn from the manes of their symbiotic suits of armor as shown in this picture.
