Hello
I am the scary trans teacher everyone warns you about. Except I'm not scary, nor am I harming your kids. Actually I am working my butt off to make sure they meet all of the requirements the school system requires for them to continue moving up In school and succeeding and thriving.
Very rarely does my being transgender come up, and if/when it does, it is rapidly addressed in an appropriate way for that child depending on thier age and understanding level. Then we move on back to the activity we were doing beforehand. Usually we cant move on quick enough.
Kids are non judgemental. They don't care. They just want to be happy.
On the subject of trans kids, yes, they exist.
No, not every little boy that wants to play with Barbies ans wear a princess dress is trans and not every Tom boy girl is trans just because they don't conform with gender stereotypes.
This does not mean trans children dont exist though. The hardest thing we can do to them is ignore thier struggles.
Gender dysphoria is a real and damaging issue to have to face and gender affirming care has been proven to be the best, most effective treatment.
No, this doesn't mean immediately putting them on hormones or hormone blockers and giving them major surgeries.
This starts with acknowledgment, dressing in a way that better represents them, name change, and just being supportive and listening.
Just like the conversation about it, the process takes quite a long time, involves many therapists and psychologists visits and sign offs, and has to be done age appropriately and that treatment changes as that age changes.
This world is complicated. Our relationships with our bodies are complicated.
Understanding goes a long way.

I know there will be some assumptions made, especially about my being trans. I am going to wait and see if they happen amd then will correct/clarify.

I guess AMA
