Becoming aware of the inexistence of a greater being, the futility and ultimate spiritual insignificance of our own existence on this earth is just a natural part of coming of age, anon. We all do it around age 12 to 15. It's part of maturity.
It isn't some debaucherous. devilish behavior that only morally corrupt people engage in, as you may think. We don't need the threat of an afterlife of pain in order to be decent human beings to one another. The notion of law and order and their utility in our society is learnt without a problem since kindergarten if you're not a socio/psychopath.
Neither we need the hope of an afterlife of joy as a reward for being a decent human being on this one.
I don't need to believe in any God in order to be a good person.
