Humans in a natural state don't need this. Or rather you get it all for free. You have people in your life that you know and value and they value you just because you're the people in each other's lives.

Globalism, international trade, but even at a smaller level, corporatism, urbanism, cosmpolitanism, all of these things robbed you of your natural state, of the world where everyone got at least a little happiness of belonging to a real community. You have been made totally replaceable for every other person by a system made to extract profit for the sake of some human worm you'll never even meet, so you're denied even the pleasure of punching him in his nasty hooked nose. Anyway, in exchange for this terrible deal, you're promised that if you spend tens of thousands of dollars on "travel" to places that have been less ruined than your home, or if you get very lucky, you might someday find your own "meaning" again.
