I would honestly describe it as a mystery game. You adventure in fantasy worlds that are warped versions of real life rooms like a computer lab or living room. There's a clear main story but also cryptic shit going and several major mysteries and things get really weird if you do a mix of exploring thoroughly, trying a couple lateral logical leaps, and just getting lucky. Games not done so many of these mysteries just exist both in terms of not knowing the resolution or how important each one individually is.
Also, Dr. W.D. Gaster is enabling you to play the game through some mysterious connection or machine. We have no idea why or what he wants.

Nobody can tell yet. It's got the character from Undertale, but they seem to be different versions of them. It might be some sort of wierd altered time loop, an alternate dimension, just a completely different setting.

The qrd of the game is that you don't play as Kris, the sole human citizien in a monster town called Hometown, and you're depressed as all fuck. You're a high school student and your adoptive parents are Toriel and Asgore, but they're divorced and it hit you really fucking hard. Asriel is also seemingly fine in this setting, but he's away for uni.

One day your teacher (Alphys) sends you and the school bully (that's the purple dinosaur/dragon girl everyone posts, Susie) to get some chalk. After she threatens you in a pretty fucking serious way, you both accidentally fall into a dark world, a secret magic kingdom full of whimsical characters that are pretty well tailored to make both Kris and Susie end their depressions. You meet Ralsei, another goat monster that looks similar to your own family and who is a prince that's been awaiting you, and he tells you you must seal the dark fountains that threaten to destroy the world but that some darkners (the dark world inhabitants) have been opening up for some reason. So you go on wacky wahoo pizza fun adventures. Until they stop being wacky wahoo and suddenly shit gets very real.

We don't precisely know, sorry. There's one thing I can tell you though, which is Undertale has Sans' theme be named "it's raining somewhere else", while there is a track in Deltarune called "the place where it rained."
It's possible that there is some kind of diegetic connection between the games, but maybe not.
What we absolutely know is they are not the "same timeline" as in one doesn't chronologically precede the other in a shared world. For example, the first thing you learn is that Asriel Dreemurr is alive. (And away at college.)
Also, some fundamental rules are different in Deltarune. Monsters in the real world in Deltarune can't cast spells like they can in Undertale. It's a very "mundane" world outside the Dark Worlds where the adventures take place.
Kris is not Frisk or Chara. Kris is just Kris. Their past is still pretty mysterious to us.

It's kind of a meme but you can argue that the presentation of a certain scene implies he did. There's room to deny it, though.

If the dark world is going to be in Asgore's shop, I just want to know what will the flowers in the jars turn into. I know it's highly unlikely they will be relevant on even a reference to the fallen humans from Undertale, but flowers that were trapped and nurtured apart from the other have to have some importance at least.

I honestly wasn't a fan of the Jackolantern guy. I recognize that's a very minority opinion and /v/ loves him. I think the "mamma mia" thing really annoyed me, it felt too on the nose meme-y, like the team desperately wanted this fight to be the thing that takes off.

I imagine in the coming chapters she'll realize that the "dream" she had (Cyber City) was real, and it'll embolden her. Or she'll have a moment where she's pushed and finally fights back, maybe tying into the former scenario. It's the same way Berdly's development from Chapter 2 is sort of on hold. You can tell that he's coming around to Kris and Susie, but hasn't fully come to terms with it.

Catti, while fiddling with her phone, tells you "... don't die." before you enter the first Dark World with Susie and says "You're alive....Nice." after you come back and talk to her in the diner. Honestly? I think that Kris's goal in making sure the prophecy happens is that the end of the prophecy leaves the world intact and almost everyone alive, guaranteed. It's basically a trolley problem - you either act to make sure the trolley diverts to the "better" outcome, or you do nothing and everyone dies to the Roaring. Someone's going to have to be made into a sacrifice, but if you're presented with a trolley problem you should ALWAYS pull the lever. Letting you and Susie defeat the Knight here when you're not supposed to would pull the lever back onto the unsafe track, and Kris is so dedicated towards making sure that doesn't happen that they've given up their autonomy to what they probably see as a demon.

Succession from Father to Child is a major theme of the game that's being built up with Alvin and Gerson, and Gerson teaching Susie about hope and finishing the story her own way.

If Susie's dad is Gaster it fits perfectly. She's going to finish DELTARUNE for her father's legacy just like Gerson's Lord of the Hammer. If you get to read between the lines, The Prophecy is "clopen". The best ending, with the Player leaving, will have Susie opening up the machine, and saying "MY DELTARUNE."

This whole thing is basically Shin Megami Tensei.

In SMT, the only person with true free will is the player character, the Messiah. Thus, the faction that wins the war between Law and Chaos is the one who convinces the Messiah to join them. Hell, this even goes to the point where, in 4 Apocalypse, a third faction manages to actually kidnap the protagonist of 4, unaware that the role of Messiah (player character) was passed onto someone else and thus Flynn is basically useless. 4 Apocalypse also has Dagda who is, similar to Kris Deltarune, a character who is explicitly using your power as the Messiah to get what they want and treats you like a slave.

In Shin Megami Tensei, Law is represented by YHVH, the cruel and tyrannical God. Chaos is represented by Lucifer, the fallen angel. And Neutrality doesn't have a clear representative.

Here, I feel like there's three forces that are roughly analagous. Kris acts like a dog for some reason, so I'd make the connection to the annoying white dog, whose ultimate form Endogeny looks like a hand with a black hole in it. The opposite of that is the black cat of chaos (that is also a hand), FRIEND, who is associated with Noelle. Our relationship with both Kris and Noelle as player characters would be opposite as well, with Kris being our master and Noelle being our slave.

Finally, between them both is a third force. The body those hands are attached to - Gaster, presumably, who just wants to see what you do. As the origin of both of those urges - "play the game as it was intended" vs"break it open and see what happens" - Gaster would be associated with Susie, who unlike either Kris or Noelle would be an equal partner with us as a player character. We can't make her do anything, but at the same time she's happy to go along with whatever. Balance. Neutrality. In between light and darkness.
