I was thinking what could be a good way to have magical artifacts with fun effects but without making tech super overpowered.
I thought maybe it will need rare materials like gold purified into orichalcum but maybe that's not enough?
What if it requires chaos to work and the easiest way to do it is by murdering monsters and capturing their energy/soul into a gem then those gems are used to power the artifacts?
That way artifacts will have a way to offer more esoteric powers unavailable otherwise.
