The Silmarillion is without exaggeration more bleak than any Fromsoft game. Dumping tentacles, vines and deformed tumor-ridden creatures all over the game world is a relatively heavy-handed and inarticulate way to depict dark fantasy. The original Dark Souls really is the only good one, the subsequent games feel like progressively more farcial parodies of themselves.
