This research pisses me off a little

I mean duh, what else were they expecting to see?

I really don't get why they chose to go with such topics instead of specific subjects that require actual preparation. Like there's a prompt about "happiness", what could you possibly write on that essay that isn't exclusively based on your own views and opinions?

We didn't need 200 pages of masturbatory science to understand this. It's not a problem exclusive to AI, we've become dependent on a lot of tools and it's clearly getting worse as technology progresses.
AI is great but it has to be used wisely. Give it to idiots and they'll stay idiots or maybe become even dumber, but give it to people who can understand and make use of its potential and it can become a very powerful tool.
Your concern is real though since the average person has room temperature IQ, so imagine when the average starts to go even lower because people can't think for themselves anymore...
