>Istanbul is 1/4th of the country by population.
It was the crossroad of the known world for like 1000 years wasn't it? Only surprise in those ancient cities is that there's anything but people there anymore.
>apartments are the best way to farm tax cattle.
Naught for nothing, but people volunteer for that. There's still land out my way for under $1000 an acre and yet 8X the population of my entire state lives in New York City (and pays out the ass for the opportunity to be there.
I think people congregating in cities is pretty much everywhere.
>empty in comparison.
Really though? Population density per square mile of small towns there? How far would you need to drive to buy gasoline or groceries? I really think people who've never tried to drive through the USA can't wrap their head around just how much fuck-all nothing there is here. In Texas for example, you can drive highway speeds for an hour and see literally nothing but tumbleweeds.
Anyway, if I lived in your country I'd be trying to live by the sea. Pics I'm seeing of that look pretty comfy. I'd deal with neighbors if I could living walking distance from the sea there.

>Isn't it $3k basically in all the top 30 cities or something
Possibly, but there's another 3.79 million square miles of country here that ISN'T those places. I have friends that live in those sort of places and most of them own houses in more than one of them. People that "need" to be there for work/business are earning plenty enough to afford it, the losers here who's only job skill is shaking salt on French fries could enjoy a better standard of living virtually any place else.
