Cause if it has sentimental memories for you or is just impossible to find nowadays, you might be able to get a craftsman or tinkerer, even a hobbyist, to repair it for you. Sometimes folks who work with their hands, like even jewelers for instance, might be willing to take on a job like that as a side thing if they know you, or if you're willing to pay and they feel nice.
