Never made any fucking sense, they were all terribly implemented.
In IS2, the temporary life point from the skill tree stops king relics from being active even if you only have one life point.
In IS3, being at low HP lowers your light after every fight so you get raped by rejections and can't get Determination if going for ED4.
In IS4, being at low HP increases collapse value after every fight so you get raped by a billion debuffs.
In IS5, you can force yourself to be at 1HP and get a billion shields to get all the relic buffs and still being able to leak without a care in the world.
It should have been a very high risk and high reward thing, where you get super strong but any single leak ends the run, and they have never managed to do it properly.
