Toriyama admits he's not very good with the emotional aspect of relationships (Which, on the romantic side, can explain why Bulma and Yamcha almost never interacted once they started dating), but at least Goku and Gohan, and Goku and Krillin, got enough focus where we can get a good grasp of what the relationship is like.
