Itahana's still there, Ito's still there. CS3 has enough of a working rep with Sakaguchi to bring him back in for a IX Remake. Same with Uematsu.

The ones they're missing are the SE USA artists like Jake Rowell from the studio that also worked on Spirits Within in the same timeframe.
Of all the things I'm worried for in a remake, it's the translation of the backgrounds to modern graphics.
