To be fair, cults by concept are supposed to not make sense and feel completely insane which is why they're so scary for normal people. A lot of the cults are just an excuse for people to use fanaticism and religion to scam people out of their money or worse, become death cults who just want to terrorize nearby societies because their leader is insane and high on drugs.
In a cyberpunk world, a cult who believes in demons imo is actually an interesting take provided you ignore all the retarded and nonsensical reasons why they do it.
All in all they remind me of the psycho maestrom gangers who tried so summon a daemon from the internet in cyberpunk 2077
