Nowadays? Yeah. But back then? Nobody gave a shit about Sonic. The only time they would ever discuss the franchise was to shit on it, considering Sonic haven't gotten a single good game since Generations and Team Sonic Racing was so barebones in content + lackluster roster, so it was a easy punching bag for the blue hedgehog.
People really underestimate or forget how awful it was being a Sonic fan during the 2010s. It was not fun seeing other franchises flourish and have great games while the Sonic franchise was afraid to do anything due to being slammed heavily by journalists like Jim Sterling.
