D1's tone is all over the place, the Chapter where you have to find a kid's pet zombie with a horse dick is followed up with the Red Moon which is completely straight-faced heavy drama, and that leads into the final act starting with a ridiculous '50s American sci-fi parody. It's a very goofy and campy game, but it never stops taking itself seriously. Every part of its story and characters are authentic, there is not an ounce of ironic detachment that would get in the way of its ability to deliver a sincere and heartfelt story about a demon learning to love.
