Anyways speaking of possession, in Cyberpunk you can think "hey, someone's using her body thanks to some chip." Which was basically the plot of the game iirc or a form of "cyberpsychosis".

And in Pokémon you have ghosts that can take the soul out of the body and mind reading so unless they have some ridiculous deus ex where for some reason ghosts get scared of trying or turns psychic users crazy like that Silver SI the ruse would fall pretty damn quick
