You should play it. It's 100% worth revisiting.
No, it's not some perfect and misunderstood masterpiece.
But it's an extremely pretty, and extremely linear game with great combat mechanics and story that both takes some time to develop.
Very character driven, and the characters are very realistic and emotionally complex.
It has phenomenal music and a very, very good ending.
