It seems like something Oda would do, even if you read the Harley, it states the Sun God appeared, but makes no mention of him doing or accomplishing -anything- He just appeared and somehow that caused some issue with the Grand Line(Great Serpant) and the Sea God that ended in disaster. Which is why some legends depict Nika as a destroyer, not a savior, because the "Original" Nika was not a hero, he was an idiot who got lucky and his actions caused a catastrophe, the second incarnation "Joyboy", is the real deal. Notice how the Sun God doesn't actually START doing anything until the "Second world".

The Mural just states Nika appeared, pissed someone/something off and everything died. It makes no mention of Nika "saving" or "freeing" anyone.
