well as a case study we could try and generate an elf character in a game like twilight 2000, keeping as much as possible unchanged for simplicity.
>1. Name
Players choice
>2. Gender
Players choice
>3. Nationality
Rolling a random European country we get Andorra
>4. Languages
Seems fitting that elves speak elvish, but they would also speak the national language (catalan in this case). She gets a ten in both since they're native languages
>5. Basic attributes
Using the random allocation method 2d6-2 but with and added modifier to strength (-1) and agility (+2) to reflect her being an elf we get:
STR: 7
AGL: 8
CON: 3
INT: 1 (+3)
EDU: 4
CHR: 4
since the total is below 30 we may add 3 points to bring up the average. Bumping up the INT score so she isn't a retard.
>6. Background skills
Skills gained before the character turned 17 (start of chargen). Limited list but lets take Language (french), Swimming, Survival, and Unarmed martial arts. 2 points in each. Basically reflects the attributes and gives some theme to the character.
>7. Career
This elf is pretty limited since her EDU score is so low (can't get into even undergrad uni). She can go to technical school however and study to be a pilot. This gives her 6 skill points in pilot and takes up one term (4 years). She jogs as a secondary activity putting her CON up to 4.
Since it's an elf the effects of aging will be ignored, a pretty powerful bonus if they can avoid the war breaking out.
Next a 1d10 is rolled to see if the war break out. If the result is equal or less to the term count it does. In this case it was a 6 so no war.
Next term will obviously be working as a commercial fixed-wing pilot, which we continue to do for five terms until the war finally breaks out.
Once it does that career automatically gets a commission in the air force as a transport aircraft pilot, which we note down in the final term.
>8. derived stats
Finally we note down the derived stats and complete the character
