If anything, the current state of no banlist tournaments proves the exact opposite: tearlaments has to be kneecapped in order for other decks to even compete, and even then it still took spots 2, 3 and 5. VS K9 only took first place because tearlaments had its best cards taken away from it. Imagine if the next no banlist tournament banned holy sue and izuna, the deck wouldn't even place in top 50, let alone top 5. Tearlaments had to run with this massive disadvantage and it still ended up in top 5.
