This is what they try and make everybody believe, but people are becoming more aware of the lies we've been told to keep us docile as they rob us blind. It worked on me too back in the early 2010s when I was starting to notice how much exponentially worse everything was getting. You actually start to believe all the gaslighting that your own experiences were an outlier and that it's always been this way. It's really, objectively worse now in a number of measurable ways.
The worst part is how hard it became to prove how much healthier the world used to be since like 40% of the old Internet's images are gone forever. Everyone that used the Internet in the 2000s uploaded their images to sites like Imageshack, Tinypic, and Photobucket, all of which are pretty much erased from history unless you had the foresight to save them elsewhere. Unless it's Reddit, YouTube, X, or Instagram, the rest of the Internet might as well not exist to newfags who just let the algorithm feed them content, demoralizing everyone further. The Internet used to be so much better when it was an escape from the real world. Now you have to actually touch grass to not go insane from doomscrolling.
