Maybe the biggest factor
I'd say maybe buy the new one sooner if you still don't notice anything from a couple of weeks (assuming my mew tests do show something)
I don't have the swelling I had last time, but it's only the first day. There's no significant change measuring on the previous mark either (i decided to measure on the new and old and track the distance between them)
So it may be that the swelling after application only happened after a week since I only had the to do so on the last few days of testing. Not sure what that would imply, maybe it increases water retention in the skin? (Asking ChatGPT it seems to suggest estrogen creams can increase skin water retention, so if so we can at least know that the phytoestrogens from saw palmetto are at least working as they should)

>doing exercise wrong?
Probably, do you mean the hamstrings are where you feel it? That probably means you're extending your knee too far. Have your foot a bit closer to the bench you're using (you want the knee bend to be about 90° when you're up)
Additionally, you may want need feet further apart and if you flare your knees out a bit more that could get even more glutes.
Although I wouldn't flare the knees on a heavy lift, it becomes a different workout called a "frog pump", they could be a good warm-up for hip thrusts just done with lighter weight
With workout where you are flexing the muscle under the greatest tension (eg glutes in a hip thrust) you should be feeling it. Unlike in workouts where the greatest tension is under stretch (glutes in a low bar squat) you don't feel it as much despite it putting the muscle under more strain and growing it more than hip thrusts (this, i think, is because the nerves aren't being as compressed when the muscle is stretched vs when it is bunched up in a contraction)
