I can tell why, because it's a story affliction, so you wouldn't think anything of it at first. I only realized it because I was messing with the menus to find out what the heck front and backline do and accidentally switched Felina with Lila. The game is strangely less excplicit than that right now. Although Lila is pretty openly gay for Filena already anyway.
The sheer difference in tone is probably at fault. I mean in the game the Black Devils are basically saturday morning cartoon villains instead of scary super-soldiers (with comically huge bombs and falling off cliffs like Wily Coyote).
